What is...a postcard?

I’ve loved Jeopardy since I was a little nugget. I’d get very excited if I knew an answer or two, and I’d yell them at the television.

I’d like to tell you that I outgrew that habit. My accuracy is wildly irregular, but my confident announcements never waver. I’m admittedly not the most fun person to watch with.

What is fun is all the trivia gems that we can glean from the show. I’m not the only one who’s taken a photo of the screen to share with a friend, right?

I mean, who wouldn’t want to know that Beetlejuice was Netflix’s first mailed DVD?

Fun trivia provides perfect bite-sized postcard topics. The next time you read or hear a snippet in a podcast, from your neighbor, or on your favorite evening trivia show, jot it down and send it off. If it comes from Jeopardy and you don’t grab it in time, fret not: some serious fans have archived every answer and question since season one on J-Archive.

Or, if you want to proactively find something perfect for your recipient, Google “fun facts about…” and the internet is your oyster.

Sending such notes is not a trivial act. According to behavioral psychologist Adam Grant, it is called pebbling, and the small things add up, in the best way.

So mail your silly, playful, serious, joyous or other little pebbles. We’ll wager big that your people will love it.

Speaking of fun and knowledge, it’s back to school time!
