Vaccine, Vaccine, Vaccine, Vacciiiiiiiinnnnnne!

My great friend Laura and I spent a chunk of yesterday afternoon planning our vaccine outfits.

“I know the healthcare professionals and other essentials can’t really go to work wearing tutus,” she said, “but you’d better believe I’m gonna be in one, along with a Dolly Parton wig.” We firmly decided that the occasion calls for a great deal of JOY.

Dolly Parton received media attention in November for helping fund the Moderna vaccine development at Vanderbilt Health. Her philanthropy inspired a “Jolene” rewrite by Gretchen McCullough, performed above by Ryan Cordell. Dolly also inspired us to create a line of postcards to contribute to the fund, as well as Laura’s desire for a big ol’ blonde wig.

With all this inspiration flying around, you’d think everyone would be quite excited to get this shot in the arm, to save them from COVID harm (to paraphrase Ms McCullough’s lyrics). The joy that Laura and I feel is not universal just yet.

Will you please join us in spreading vaccine joy?

  1. Dress for joy on your vaccine day. You decide what’s joyous to you.

  2. Snap a picture.

  3. Share it on Facebook, Instagram, and/or Twitter. Use the hashtag #pleasedotakeitjustbecauseyoucan - Let your people know that all the cool kids are getting the vaccine.

  4. Enter the link below to your account where you shared your pic with the hashtag. This giveaway is now closed.

  5. We’ll send you two Dolly postcards (with stamps!) to spread the word via snail mail.

Some questions we think you might have:

  1. Can I dress up on both my vaccine days, and ultimately get all 4 postcards?

    Yep!

  2. Can I buy more postcards?

Yep! Scroll down just a smidge more to order, and we’ll send $5 to the Vanderbilt Health COVID-19 Fund for every set you get.

  3. Do you have an unlimited amount of postcards to give away?

Sure don’t, though we want to give a bunch. Entering your info doesn’t guarantee that you’ll get the freebies, but we’ll sure try our darnedest.

  4. Do I have to wear a Dolly Parton wig?

    No, but why wouldn’t you?
