2nd Annual Snail Mail Bingo
Snail Mail Bingo is back!
As we slide into National Letter Writing Month in April, we’re thinking about another annual tradition: spring break. Many of us are delaying travel plans as we eagerly await getting the COVID-19 vaccine. This doesn’t mean we’re cancelling spring break, though.
Spring break 2021 is still on; we’re just adventuring in place.
Adventure lies everywhere, and we are going to find it in the places we may not have looked before.
Have you visited your town’s tourist trap? Be honest: would you go if was somewhere else? I grew up in Blowing Rock, NC and have never been to the blowing rock. Yep, there’s an actual rock.
I love taking walks around town. Many details are lost in even a 35 mph drive. Walk or bike through a neighborhood to check out funky mailboxes, great gardens, and stunning sidewalk chalk art.
Enter an ignored part of your home with the curiosity of an explorer. What’s in there? What stories lie within the things you find? Bonus: items that are ignored and don’t have a good story can very likely be donated or thrown out.
Go to the library, local park, or some other nearby spot. Get outside your typical route or routine in these spaces. Check out a different section of books - maybe even the travel books, to plan a post-pandemic adventure. Take note of an old tree you’ve walked right by 1000 times.
Curate a souvenir collection. Picks up shells on the beach, everything blue in your house, cheesy postcards from the gas station. No need to drop a lot of our modest adventure budget on souvenirs; so many free or cheap things are available to be noticed and appreciated.
No spring break adventure is complete without sending postcards to your loved ones, telling them about the cool things you’ve done. Roll through the prompts on our Snail Mail Bingo, or pick your own path. The adventure is up to you!
Our 2021 Spring Break Adventure Postcard Pack offers 7 postcards of your choice and 7 postcard stamps. We’ll donate $7 to your local Make-a-Wish chapter, to help kids with critical illnesses have adventures, too.
