Bye 2020!
There was plenty of good stuff.
Bad stuff, too, to be sure, which is why our 2020 Dumpster Fire postcard (offered in partnership with The Card Bureau) was one of our most popular. We’re just not going to talk about all that here.
Sugar and I were among the very fortunate ones who have some sunny memories and great highlights from 2020, and in the spirit of a recent blog post and lagniappe, I’m going to roll through a few here.
Lots of beach walks; lots of audiobooks
Refocusing on what’s really important
Joining in the Blank Page Social most days
Still getting to teach - thanks Zoom!
Stretchy pants all day every day
Deeper gratitude for healthcare workers, the public sector, and everyone else who takes care of us
Sending & receiving some really great snail mail
The genuine HOPE I felt when learning that one of my very best gal pals was having another baby, after not feeling hopeful for a while
Paddleboarding with a friend in one of the better socially-distanced hangouts I had all year, plus the waves of laughter as she helped me get back on the thing after taking a comedic spill
Eminem performing “Lose Yourself” at the Oscars - there, I said it.
Seeing my favorite band live twice, at drive-in shows at the Charlotte Motor Speedway - especially catching a stellar new version of one of their classics
Obsessively watching Steve Kornacki, aka the Chart-throb, in early November
My mom opening the Christmas gift I’ve been wanting to get her for years; for you SNL fans: yes, it was a robe
Every time a new subscription order comes in; that ding makes me do a happy dance!
Some really great humans came into the world in 2020, including but not limited to:
Avery in Washington
Dansby & Jett in Nevada
Bridger in Idaho
Maxwell, Murdoch, Leni & Elianna in Montana
Avery (another one!) in North Carolina
Many thanks to each of you who made 2020 special: for me, for yourself, and for the other folks in your life.
Now let’s get out there and seize all the best in 2021!
